Cut out for me.

I just got back from the first meeting of the college geek club. I was promoted from Assistant Bureaucrat to Head Bureaucrat! Mainly because the previous Head Bureaucrat disappeared over the summer, though I like to think that the doughnuts I brought helped.

A goal of mine recently has been to rely more on my to-do list, to help me keep track of things and reduce my stress. I'll go through every item on my list now, to help me get my thoughts in order.

INTRODUCTION TO FICTION WRITING CLASS: Buy the textbook. One of the last I'll need to buy. This looks like it'll be a crazy-fun class.

PLAYWRITING CLASS (schoolwork goes at the top, for obvious reasons): On November 5th, the college theatre company is doing a production of The Butcher of Baraboo, which apparently sucks, but we're supposed to attend it for this class. I need to find out how to reserve tickets.

UPDATE BACKUPS EVERY FRIDAY: My parents bought me this wonderful backup drive, which I obsessively keep updated with my schoolwork, writing, RPG character data, and Firefox bookmarks.

BOB sign: This is where I get to the stuff I just added from the GEEK club meeting. At three tomorrow I'm meeting with Rachael from the club in front of the Educational Arts building, to help make a sign for the club for "BOB", which is some sort of campus club fair on Thursday (I think?). Should be really fun. We're apparently having classic N64 gaming, games of DnD with pregenerated characters, Magic, and people dressed up in Ren Fest gear. There was even talk of a hot air balloon sign.

Alyssia's DnD game: It is after BOB. I MUST remember to ask her during BOB when and where. She is apparently going to host an Evil Characters game. That girl scares me sometimes - she has the Sacrifice tables from the Book of Vile Darkness *memorized* o_O

Schoolgirls and Mobile Suits! This is an anime conference held by a certain art school that I'm attending. I'm hoping to go there to get contacts, find out more about the industry, try and get deeper into anime culture in general (which I'm finding surprisingly difficult) in preparation for the job I hope to get with an anime licensing company. Oh, and posters. I'm hoping to get posters. So I need to remember to try and get ready for that, though I'm not sure what I have to do to get ready.  Try saving my money for once?

DENTIST. Oh god it's been way too long since I went to the dentist. The problem is I'm having trouble figuring out how to make an appointment. The Blue Cross card my parents gave me ostensibly has all the information I need on it, but when I called the other day they asked me what company the insurance is going through. I don't even know what that means, so I couldn't make an appointment. It seems insurance is just one of those dozens of tiny fucking things that everyone on the planet but me magically understands...

Renaissance Festival! It is coming up, and I am going with the geek club. My parents offered to let us stay at their house, but we've got roughly 20 people showing up so I don't know... Anyways I think we're going on a Friday in September, staying overnight, going to the fair in the morning, staying another night, and heading back on Sunday. I need to remember to get a linen shirt to go with my belt, belt pouches, hat, leather gauntlets, and my sword (if I can find it and the scabbard anymore...). A redheaded girl in the geek club offered to get me a ticket for $12, so I NEED to remember to go to the ATM before the next meeting on the 31st.

Laundry. I hate doing laundry. It just wastes so much time... I think I need to buy new socks too, I've already run out.

Anime club. This is actually important. I need to get in contact with the campus anime club and find out when they're holding meetings this semester. I just left a message on their Facebook page. As I said, I'm trying to get more involved with anime culture in general, so I'm trying to join them plus... well, I'm tired of not having a life at all, so I'm working on joining more clubs and getting involved in more activities.

English Club. Extracurricular activities are the highlight of every resume, so I need to check out the school's english club and try and join. I'm hoping to get more ingrained with the campus's large writing community and maybe get some feedback on my own meager attempts, but it's easier said than done. I know the anime club through the geek club, but I don't even know what the campus english/writing club is called. Who would I ask?

Editing job. This is related to the above; I need to find the campus job office and ask about finding a job working at one of the school's writing-assistance thingies or whatever. I really don't know what the terminology would be, or who to ask, so that's going to be even tougher than finding the english club. Oh well.

Write in this blog! Eventually I won't have to remind myself to do that, or I'll forget about it completely despite the reminders.

Play Exalted more. This is one of those "reminders to do things I actually want to do but don't in favor of things more addicting but ultimately less satisfying." I play a somewhat esoteric tabletop RPG called Exalted online, but I want to start being a regular there and get to know the community. Maybe I'll eventually finally figure out how the Exalted system works better...

Play the Dragon Quest games already! I bought Dragon Quest IX at GameStop when I went to apply for a job (which netted me nothing but a place on their spam list), but I haven't had the inclination to finish Dragon Quest VI yet. I haven't had the inclination to play my DS much at all, actually, but maybe once I start getting out and about more I'll have the onus to start carrying it with me.

Ring of the Fawn Ch. 1. That's the big story I have planned. I have the proluge written, and the start of the first chapter written (I'm framing each chapter starting with a diary entry from the heroine), but I've yet to put any serious work into the chapter itself. I really want to get this done, but I haven't figured out how to force creativity yet... Plus I really don't like how the chapter intro went and want to rewrite it too. Oh well, I'm sure my Fiction Writing class will either give me the onus to work on it or supplant it with other assignments.

Incidentally, my mum found out about this place. She's probably the only one who will ever read it, but Journal Writing class taught me to always assume the audience is just a generic Reader. So, farewell Reader.
